Autumn 2

Week 1:

In English, the children have been writing a setting description inspired by the book 'James and the Giant Peach'. The children have blown me away with their use of adjectives and their creative writing.

Week 2:

We have been amazing Mathematicians this week as we are now moving onto 0-20 numbers! We have been ordering the numbers and playing games of adding and subtracting numbers on the number line. On Friday, we participated in a 'Children in Need Danceathon', we showed all of Year 1 our best dance moves- Strictly Come Dancing...watch out!

Week 3:

In History and English, we have been learning all about mining. On Monday, we went on a trip to Clipstone Headstocks and were able to experience walking in a deep, dark tunnel, discover how miners would travel up and down in a lift and see different types of vehicles! The children had many questions that they were able to have answered by the miner. What a fantastic trip!

Week 4:

As a school, we took part in 'No Pen Day'. We had a day focused on learning Makaton for greetings, festive songs and the alphabet. The children found this really interesting in Swift Class and enjoyed learning a different way to communicate to each other.

Week 5:

Thank you to all parents and carers who came to see our Key Stage 1 Nativity performance. We have all worked really hard and it was lovely to see so many of you there watching us.

Week 6:

Twas the night before Christmas...

In English, we were learning the famous Christmas poem. However, we learned the poem through dance. The children became the characters and brought the poem to life!
