Phonics

Phonics

Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read and write. It helps children hear, identify and use different sounds that distinguish one word from another.

Children in reception class have phonics lessons every day. Each week we introduce 2 phonemes (sounds) and work on our blending skills (to help with reading) and segmenting skills (to help with writing and spelling).

Practising these at home will support your child in making significant progress.
