Information about the Little Wandle Big Cat Collins Books
Phase 1 books
Phase 1 texts are wordless books designed to get your child ready for reading. Go through the story together, talking about what is happening on each page. Encourage your child to tell the story.
Phase 2 books
Phase 2 texts introduce simple words which your child can use their phonics understanding to decode. Encourage children to sound talk each word (p-a-n) and then blend the letter sounds (pan).
Phase 3 and Phase 4 books
Following this, children will progress onto Phase 3 and Phase 4. Again, children will be encouraged to sound-talk and blend more complex words including digraphs and trigraphs.
