Welcome to Puffin Class

Puffin Class

Reception Class Staff

Our class teacher is Miss Lounds and our teaching assistants are Miss Cox and Mrs Gallagher. Please do not hesitate to come and ask us any questions.

Daily Routine

Our doors open at 8.40am where parents/carers are encouraged to bring their child into the classroom and help with coats, bags and their morning activity. This provides a great opportunity to see what your child has been learning and ask any questions or pass on any information that we need to know.

After register time all children take part in a Literacy session. We focus on a story and use this to support our learning. Click here to see some of our learning from Autumn Term and Spring Term.

Children then have the chance to learn through play. We interact with the children to help build communication skills and develop relationships with their peers. Our neutral classroom include quality resources that we provided to help your child engage in meaningful activities. During choosing time, the children have the opportunity to access the provision within both reception classrooms. Five challenges are set each week for the children to complete and these are spread between both classes to encourage the children to access all the different areas within our provision.

At 10:15 we have snack time where the children have milk/water and a piece of fruit each day. We then have break time, followed by Phonics. We spend time in phonics developing their phonics skills and learning different sounds to help children when writing. Click here to see how Phonics is taught.

After lunchtime we have maths where children develop their number skills as well as other mathematical areas.

In Reception class children wear a full school uniform. Please ensure that uniform has their name in. Uniform can be purchased at the school office.

P.E. is on a Friday, the children are expected to come into school in their p.e. kit on this day.

Daily Reading

By the end of the year, Reception children are expected to be on a Yellow book band. For this to be achieved, we need your support! Please read with your child every day and write it in their reading diary.
