Snow Day Information
Snow Day Information
Good morning,
Here are some learning opportunities for today.
Phonics
Please use one of Miss Lound's videos to recap Phonics. Here is the link to last weeks video: https://youtu.be/DkpmmZ4O9Ts?si=famLHzHgnfKiiSJe
Also, please make use of the Little Wandle parent page where you will find videos and documents to support pronunciation of the phonemes (sounds) and support with tricky words etc. This is a great resource to use.
English
Once you have been out in the snow please draw a picture and write some snowy sentences to tell me about what you have done. E.g. I made a snowman and it had a red hat on and big carrot nose.
If you are not playing out in the snow today then please draw a picture and write some snowy sentences about what you can see out of the window. E.g. The snow fell softly or I can see lots of footprints in the snow.
Can you identify all the nouns, verbs and adjectives in your sentences?
Also after playing in the snow, encourage children to do some reading while they warm up inside, this can be any book they are enjoying at the moment or even something about the snow.
Maths
Please go on TTRS and practice your 2, 5, and 10 x tables, and beyond!
See what objects you can find either outside or in the house and practice addition and subtraction.
Can you use the snow outside to draw maths problems and solve them?
Topic Options:
Melting Ice (Outside/Indoor Activity)
What you need: Snow, scales, selection of things to test eg. Salt, sugar, washing up liquid, oil, hot water, cold water etc.
This is an experiment to find out what is the best thing to use to melt the snow! Collect samples of snow (same weight) and place each sample into a separate container. Now, add your testing liquids. Observe what happens. Which was best at melting snow? Were you surprised?
Snow Art (Outside Activity)
What you need: snow
Why don’t you create some natural art. Use these for inspiration.
Nativity
If possible please take this opportunity to also practise the lines you have in the nativity.
