This half term is full of celebrations! We will be learning about lots of different celebrations from around the world.
First we learned about Diwali, we read the text Dipal's Diwali. The story follows one Hindu child as he enjoys the festival, helping young readers to understand and relate to the rituals and events shown. We made our own Diwali lamps from clay!
We then looked at the text Sparks in the Sky where we learned about five-year-old Bo and her first experience of Bonfire Night with her family. Join Bo and her family as she enjoys all the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of community celebration. We made some of our very own firework art too!
We also read all about the story of Hanukkah, did you know that the word Hanukkah means direction? The children explored what this celebration means and how people celebrate Hanukkah. We did some lovely Hanukkah artwork using blue paper and sparkly colours to represent lights.
During the last couple of weeks we read some Christmas stories and even had a day in our PJ's that we spent reading, reading and doing more reading! We had a fabulous day!
We made our very own Stickmen to eat... they were very yummy!
We also decorated out classroom and held a "Wriggly Nativity" that we got to share with our friends and family... phew we are ready for Santa!
