Welcome to Kittiwake Class
Hello and welcome to a brand new year and to the start of a new and exciting Spring Term.
My name is Mr Patten and I have the privilege this year to be teaching the Year 5 Class alongside my colleague Mrs Coverley.
We are both looking forward to working with your children at this stop on their learning journey and preparing them for their final year at Birklands.
PE
PE will remain to be on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure children are arriving in correct uniform for PE and are not wearing jewellery. The kit consists of plimsolls or trainers, black shorts and a white t-shirt. This also extends to a hoodie or jumper for when the weather gets colder.
Homework
Homework will continue to be given out on a Friday, collected in on a Wednesday, to be marked together on a Thursday. It is important that this is completed so please encourage children to hand this in on time.
Reading
The enjoyment of reading is something we strongly believe is important for every child to have, as well as it being a vital skill to unlock other stages of learning in class. Please help us to encourage this with children by helping them to read 5 times a week and then marking this in their diaries.
Times Table Rockstars
Times tables are an essential skill to help with maths learning. All children have a login in their diaries for TT Rockstars and this will help them keep this knowledge sharp in their minds. Encourage them to log in regularly for short blasts.
If you ever have any concerns or questions regarding school activities, do not hestiate to contact us or send a message through your child's reading diary
Thank you,
Mr Patten
