Spring Term

Science Week

During Science week, Jay class looked at the work of Jane Goodall and how she studied the behaviour of chimpanzees. For their homework project, the children were asked to design a chimpanzee sanctuary. Have a look at their designs below - I was blown away!

World Book Day

On Thursday 3rd March, we celebrated World Book Day. Jay class all looked fantastic in their costumes and we all enjoyed lots of reading and exploring books. We have read lots of Mr Men and Little Miss books in story time this year, so we decided to have a go at making our own! The children came up with some fabulous ideas for new characters and invented some great stories for them.

Sunflower Art

This week we found out about the artist Vincent Van Gogh. We learnt that he was born in the Netherlands but moved to Paris where he began painting with bright colours. His most famous piece is called 'Sunflowers' and this linked in nicely with our science learning about plants. We looked at making different tones of yellow using watercolour and then created our own sunflower paintings.

NSPCC Number Day

Everyone in Jay class enjoyed some number based fun to raise money for the NSPCC. We played times table board games, tested our number knowledge with a quiz and went on a scavenger hunt to find out some number based facts! Did you know, 20 billion LEGO bricks are made each year?
