Keep smiling and enjoy your learning - from Mrs Lewis
Welcome to Year 2
Hello. My name is Mrs Lewis and I am delighted to be the Year Two teacher.
We have a fantastic year ahead with lots of investigating, puzzling and wondering to give us exciting learning opportunities. I can't wait!
Here is some information about what happens in Y2. Any questions - please just ask.
Homework will be given out on Thursdays and should be returned no later than the following Tuesday. Homework will usually include English and Maths tasks which link to the work done in school that week. In addition, children will be given spellings to learn. Spelling tests will take place on Fridays each week.
Homework is given to support and extend your child’s learning and they will need adult support and encouragement in order to complete it. It is important that homework is done every week as each task revisits and consolidates previous learning. If they have any problems or are unsure about their homework tasks, a member of staff in Y2 will be able to offer guidance.
READ, READ, READ!
Reading at home plays a vital role in developing your child’s learning and can have a massive impact on their progress in school. Your child will bring home a book matched to their reading level and should be encouraged to talk about what is happening in the story and to make predictions as well as reading aloud. Each time they read, please write in their diaries to support their progress towards reading certificates awards.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Times tables rock stars!
Let's see you all rocking your times tables!!
Times Tables Rock Stars supports the children with their understanding and recall of multiplication and division facts.
It is an exciting resource provided by school to engage and interest pupils. Use it at home on your laptop or tablet as much as you can. The more practicing you do, the better your chance of getting a certificate in assembly on Friday!
