WC 4/5/20

Hello Jay class. I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. We only have four days of learning this week as it is Bank holiday on Friday, so you can have the day off!

On this Page you will find your tasks for this week where I will be setting daily Maths and English tasks.

Phonics - Don't forget your child can now receive a daily phonics lesson whilst schools are closed through online lessons that are designed to follow the phonics program your child has been learning at school. A new phonics lesson is uploaded everyday, Monday to Friday, at 10.30am.

Click on the link below for the daily phonics lessons.

Year 1 Summer Term Phonics

After watching each lesson, we encourage you to read aloud to your child. Remember, it is vital that you continue to read every day. I have uploaded all the reading books on the reading page, just look for your book band.

As always, I would love to see any work you have done. Any questions, I am here to help so please message me at nevans@birklandsschool.co.uk

Topic

For Topic activities, you will be given a selection of activities to undertake during the course of the week. You may undertake these tasks in any order that you wish. Bear in mind that some will take longer than others to complete.

This week we are continuing with our whole school topic of Greece/Ancient Greece.

Here are your Topic activities for this week:

VE day- 75th anniversary (8th May)

Have you seen any Union Jacks on houses? Maybe you have made some bunting yourself. It is because Friday is VE day- it is 75 years since the end of World War Two!

Watch this video to find out about VE day.

On 8th May 1945 at 3pm, Winston Churchill announced on the radio that the war in Europe had come to an end. To celebrate this, it is traditional for people to throw street parties. I know some of you are having your own lockdown celebrations, I hope you enjoy them.
