On this Page you will find your tasks for this week where I will be setting daily Maths and English tasks.

Phonics - Your child can now receive a daily phonics lesson whilst schools are closed through online lessons that are designed to follow the phonics program your child has been learning at school. From Monday 27 April, a new phonics lesson will be uploaded everyday, Monday to Friday, at 10.30am.

After watching each lesson, we encourage you to read aloud to your child. Remember, it is vital that you continue to read every day. I have uploaded all the reading books on the reading page, just look for your book band.

Topic

For Topic activities, you will be given a selection of activities to undertake during the course of the week. You may undertake these tasks in any order that you wish. Bear in mind that some will take longer than others to complete.

Today's task is based on plurals. Plural means more than one e.g. one dog/ two dogs. Can you change the singular word into a plural?
Remember you can add:
  • s to the end
  • es to the end if it ends in ch, sh, x, z, s
  • if words ends in y you change the y for an i and add es.
Examples – pen – pens / church – churches /baby – babies

How to be a triumphant Olympian
Have you ever wanted to be an Olympic champion? Read below to find out how to be one:
You will need:
  • Fast, shiny running shoes
  • Strong, fit body
  • Work hard spirits
  1. First you need to tie your laces on your fast, shiny running shoes so that you don’t trip over when you are running.
  2. Next you need to stand smart and listen for the “on your marks, get set, go” so you know when to start running.
  3. After that you need to run as fast as you can to try and win the race but be careful that you don’t run into anyone.
  4. Then you keep running all the way until you cross the finish line so that you know when to stop running.
  5. Finally if you win the race you receive your medal and everyone will cheer for you. But don’t worry if you don’t win, keep practicing for next time.

I want you to plan you writing today. Use my instructions to help you. You might want to draw a story map or just write ideas. Think about and write down:

  2. What might you put in your introduction?
  3. What will you need?
  4. Which instruction will you start with first?
  5. Which time connective/ adjective will you use for each instruction?

Remember we are only planning today so just draw pictures and write key words to help you, ready for tomorrow.
