Today's task is based on plurals. Plural means more than one e.g. one dog/ two dogs. Can you change the singular word into a plural?

Remember you can add:

  • s to the end
  • es to the end if it ends in ch, sh, x, z, s
  • if words ends in y you change the y for an i and add es.

Examples – pen – pens / church – churches /baby – babies

We know a technique to help us find half of amounts. We use two circles and share an amount of dots. We know each circle will have the same amount of dots when we have finished sharing.

We could also use our fingers to find half

E.g. if I was finding half of 16. I can count in twos on my fingers until I get to 16. The amount of fingers that are up is half.

Today we are looking at doubles using numbers. Remember doubles means adding the same two numbers e.g. 1 + 1 / 5 + 5.

There are two ways you can find doubles to 10.

e.g. 6 + 6

You can put one number in your head (6) and add 6 more fingers or

You can put 6 fingers up and count in twos to find the answer.
