Look at the image:

Make a list of questions you would like to ask this lady e.g. Who are you? Where have you come from?

Remember questions words like who, what, where, when, why, how etc

Remember you need a capital letter and a ? at the end.

Maths

Go on a shape hunt around you house.

  • How many different 2D shapes can you find around your house?
  • Can you say the name of that shape?
  • Can you describe the properties of that shape e.g. how many sides/ corners does it have?
  • How many different 3D shapes can you find around your house?
  • Can you say the name of that shape?
  • Can you describe the properties of that shape? E.g. how many edges/ faces/ vertices does it have?
  • Can you sort the items you find in your house into different shapes? E.g. 2D/ 3D shapes, cubes / cylinders, straight edges/ curved edges

Share a story with someone at home and answer these questions:

  • Who are the characters/ who is the main character?
  • Where is the story set?
  • What was the problem in the story and how was it solved?
  • Which character did you like most? Why?
  • Which character do you think would make a good friend? Why?
  • What was your favourite part of the story?
  • Did you like the ending? Why/ Why not?

Measuring height

Find out:

  • How many building bricks tall are you?
  • Measure how tall you are and mark your height with masking tape on the floor. Place objects side by side next to your height. Can you find a combination of objects that measures the same length as your height?
  • Measure your height. Then, with someone’s help, measure the distance from fingertip to fingertip when you stretch your arms wide. Compare the distances - do you notice anything?

  • Imagine that it is a really small dragon which you can keep in your pocket but when you need to it can grow huge so that you can ride it. Where would you go?

Measuring length

Find out:

  • Who has the longest finger?
  • Can you find 5 objects (e.g. toy cars) and order them according to size?
  • How long is a £5 note? Are all notes the same length?
  • Measure some shoes. Make a table comparing shoe size to length of shoe.
  • How many things can you find which measure exactly 15 cm?
