Magpie class have had a fantastic start to the new school year. Here are some of the things we have been learning about.
In Maths we have been focusing on place value, then addition and subtraction. In English we have explored The Great Paper Caper, The True Story of the Big Bad Wolf, The Coal Thief, and Cinderella.
In RE we have thought about what it means to belong, and what makes people inspiring. In Science we have been exploring materials and looked into our question “Could I build a school out of paper?” We have been inspired by Henri Matisse to make our own collage and L.S. Lowry to create our own drawing of a historical Mansfield building. In History we have focussed on industries that were important to our local area and were lucky to have a visit from an ex-miner! We also enjoyed a visit to Mansfield Museum to learn more about the local industries. We finished the Autumn term by making a sock in Design & Technology.
