This half term, we are focusing on Seaside Holidays. We are continuing to look at the similarities and differences of Seaside holidays now and in the past. The children so are enjoying sharing their own experiences of the seaside.
The children have became Travel agents within the provision and are enjoying lots of other activities. Please put pictures on Tapestry of your child on holiday so that we can continue to share these.
Creating a beach
The children all did a fantastic job at colour mixing to make their perfect colour for the sky. We then used yellow for the sand before putting sand over the top. We created our sea by collaging, we discussed how we can tear and then glue the paper to create waves.
Alfie on Holiday
Alfie on Holiday has been a lovely book to support the children's learning on the different activities that can be done whilst at the seaside.
Lucy and Tom at the Seaside
Clem and Crab
The children have loved the story 'Clem and Crab', they have made fantastic contributions and predictions as to how the beach became clean. We have discussed protecting our environment and wildlife by thinking about what we can to help, no matter how small.
The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch
Our new theme for our last half term is 'What is it like in other countries?'. We are focusing on the stories 'Handa's Surprise', 'Baby goes to Market' and 'Off to Market' in Literacy and also using these to support our comparisons of the Uk and Africa.
To further support the children in making comparisons to other countries, we have focused on the story 'Coming to England'.
