~ 16th January 2026 ~

As we begin a new term, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all our families for a happy and healthy 2026. I hope the Christmas break brought plenty of rest, joy and time together. It has been a real pleasure to see the children return to school with such positivity. Their energy, curiosity and readiness to learn have created a wonderful atmosphere throughout the building, and they have slipped back into school life with impressive ease.

I would also like to acknowledge the recent spell of challenging weather: we are incredibly proud that we were able to keep the school open, ensuring continuity and stability for our pupils. Please be assured that we will always make every effort to remain open whenever the site is judged to be safe and we have enough staff available to operate effectively. Your patience and cooperation during these moments are greatly appreciated.

Although this half term is a short one, it is certainly full of activity. There are many exciting opportunities, events and learning experiences planned for the weeks ahead. I encourage you to take a moment to look through the 'Diary Dates' section so you can stay up to date with everything that is coming up.

I look forward to a productive and enjoyable half-term for all.

Miss Watson

We are delighted to share some happy news within our school community. Miss Lounds was married over the Christmas break and is now Mrs Farrell. We send her our heartfelt congratulations and wish her every happiness in this new chapter.

We also send our very best wishes to Miss Stretton, who begins her maternity leave this week. We will be eagerly awaiting news of her new arrival and - without wishing time away - look forward to welcoming her back when the time comes.

During her absence, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Coley, who will be joining us as the teacher for Robin class. In addition, Miss Tanner will be stepping into the role of EYFS Lead, ensuring continuity and strong leadership across the early years team.

Finally, we are delighted to share that Mr Agar has settled brilliantly into the KS1 team as Dove Class teacher, already making a positive impact.

We are grateful for the dedication and enthusiasm of all our staff and look forward to a wonderful term ahead.

We are incredibly proud of all the children who received a certificate in this week’s assembly. These pupils were recognised for their exceptional effort, kindness and for embodying our school values in everything they do.

Whether they have shown remarkable determination in their learning or have gone out of their way to support others, each of them has made a positive impact on our school community. Their actions remind us of the importance of working hard, being kind and helping to make our school a place where everyone can flourish.

A huge well done to all of our stars - keep shining brightly.

Our house teams have been working incredibly hard this term, and it’s wonderful to see the children showing such pride in contributing to their house totals. Every pupil plays a part - all children earn house points through their class Recognition Boards, celebrating positive learning behaviours, kindness and effort across the school.

A reminder that any consequences for negative behaviour result in points being deducted, helping children understand the impact of their choices and encouraging them to uphold our school values.

This week’s running totals are:

Thoresby: 654

Clumber: 673

Rufford: 674

Sherwood: 705

A huge well done to all the children for their contributions. Sherwood are currently in the lead, but with such close scores, everything could change next week.

A huge well done to Jay Class, who achieved an outstanding 99.1% attendance this week. This is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects the children’s enthusiasm and commitment to their learning.

As a reward for their brilliant effort, the class will enjoy a non‑uniform day next week. Mrs Farrell will be in touch with further details.

Thank you to all families for your continued support in helping children arrive at school every day, ready to learn.

Congratulations to Rowan (Magpie class) for her fantastic gymnastics achievements outside of school.

If you would like to share any of you children’s achievements outside of school, please feel free to send them through to us so we can celebrate their successes together.

Birthday Non‑Uniform Days

If your child’s birthday falls on a school day, they are warmly invited to come to school in non‑uniform to celebrate. If their birthday happens to be on a PE day, they are welcome to choose another day during that same week to enjoy their non‑uniform day instead.

Lunchtime Menu Choices

We’ve noticed a few recent occasions where children — particularly our younger pupils — have selected the main meal at lunchtime and then realised it’s something they don’t enjoy. To help avoid this, we kindly ask parents and carers to spend a moment reviewing the menu with their child each morning so they feel confident in their choice.

After‑School Club – Important Notice

After‑school club is cancelled on Tuesday 25th February. Please ensure alternative arrangements are made for collection on this day.
