In Reception Class we have Mr Cohen who is the Class Teacher and Miss Cox is our Teaching Assistant.
We open our doors earlier than the rest of school and this gives us opportunity to chat to parents and for them to see the fantastic work we have been doing. We open our doors at 8.30am and home time is 3.00pm.
Children wear a full school uniform, jumpers and coats can be purchased at the school office. As we spend a lot of time outside we request that children come to school in a sensible outdoor coat/clothing appropriate for the weather conditions. During the summer we ask that children are provided with sun cream and a sun hat to leave at school.
Our doors open at 8:30, parents/carers are encouraged to bring their child into the cloakroom to help with hanging coats and bags on pegs. If you wish to come into the class to help with name writing you're more than welcome to. This provides a fantastic opportunity to see what your child has been learning and work alongside them until register time at 8:45. It is also a chance to chat to myself or Miss Cox.
After register time all children take part in a phonics session. Children then have access to indoor provision and get to learn through play. We encourage independent learning through play, we interact with the children to help build communication skills and develop relationships with their peers. Our class has a creative area as well as a construction, reading, writing and maths area. Our neutral classrooms includes quality resources that we provided to help your child engage in meaningful activities.
Each day Reception Class have a focused group time for Maths and Literacy. Over the week there are focused activities for all the other areas of learning.
Once a month we hold a coffee morning where parents/carers are invited to come for a cup of tea/coffee and a chat. The coffee mornings usually have a focus based on things we are doing in the classroom. They are very informal and it a great opportunity to build relationships with other parents and staff.
